Struggling to find anything to eat she could find, living in crowded conditions with no pasture and 9 pasture mates to fight for even one blade of hay when they could fin it.

Baby by her side, she walked bravely into our trailer for the ride to Hidden Springs Ranch, where she is being cared for until her recovery.

It will be a long road to her recovery, but is a labor of Love for the volunteers at Hidden Springs Horse rescue. Won’t you join us in helping her recover through your sponsorship?

Please open your heart to this sweet little minature donkey, who was taken in by Hidden Springs Horse Rescue after he suffered a serious problem with his legs due to infection, and later improperly applied leg wraps which resulted in edema and skin loss on his legs. With diligent care, he has recovered and has become a permanent resident at our rescue ranch.

Suffering from Equine Metabolic Syndrome, Fatty Liver disease and chronic leg ulcerations he is being cared for with medications, a special diet and special care for his legs which includes protective coverings. He is the beneficiary of special summer and winter “whinny warmer” leg wraps donated by Sox For Horses to help protect his sensitive legs.

Please help us to continue to provide the special care that this special little donkey requires through a monthly sponsorship donation pledge.

Donate now through Paypal, or click here for a copy of our Monthly Pledge Form which can be printed and mailed to us.
Count is a 19 1/2 year old Arabian gelding who was brought to Hidden Springs from The Orange Springs, FL area, suffering from severe neglect. He was underweight and in need of farrier and veterinary care.

And so the rest of his new life began with his arrival at Hidden Springs Horse Ranch where he grazes alongside his friends in the pasture during the day, and keeps warm in a stall with his own blanket on at night.

Count’s veterinarian evaluation has revealed the fact that he has cancer, which has spread to the interior of his mouth, making weight maintenance a challenge. We currently feed him a soft diet consisting of senior feed and beet pulp, along with special joint supplements and mineral salt.

He is a lovely gelding with big, kind eyes who shows us his appreciation by placing his nose next to our hands with a silent request for love. We are more than glad to care for and love him, helping make his last few years as comfortable and full of love as possible. Please help by sponsoring him to help us provide for his needs.

Madaha is a 28 year old Arabian Mare that we rescued in May 2008. She was in extremely poor health due to starvation, a uterine infection, hoof problems including thrush and intestinal parasites.

She has had some setbacks since her original progress after her arrival at Hidden Springs. She had been fighting uterine infections due to a tipped vulva, chronic thrush in her hooves which did not clear up due to her poor immunity and general malnourished condition. She developed a thyroid tumor last year and took a turn for the worst, losing weight and becoming listless. The vet performed a biopsy, and found the tumor to be benign; so our fight began to find a way to bring her back around.

With careful veterinary management, steroid therapy and a revised diet she began her journey to regain her health once again. The generous donation of the Succeed daily supplement donation by Freedom Health, LLC made a big difference. She began to really respond to our efforts, gaining weight and becoming more lively. She now feels well enough to run around the barnyard with her head held high and tail flagged! What a welcome sight! Our gratitude goes out to Dr. Carla Hubbard for making this possible by her caring and proficient veterinary care as well as arranging to have a generous supply of the supplement donated to benefit Madaha.

She has made an amazing recover. Her will to live, and wonderful disposition have been an inspiration to each of us at Hidden Springs Horse Rescue who have grown to love her, as well as to her many visitors She never ceases to amaze us with her wonderful spirit and powerful personality. She is a joy to have at our ranch.

Madaha has touched the hearts of people from all over America who have written to express their amazement at all that she has been through, to express their concern for her, and extend their wishes for her continued improvement. We are grateful for their letters and calls to offer support and encouragement. Please help by giving on a monthly basis to help pay for her continued care.

Please scroll down to view past and present photos!
